High Key Portraiture

Hi Jonhathan

I am sure most photographers in the forum understand fully what you meant by high-key portraiture. The idea you have presented here of how you tried to capture Rich's feature is perfectly fine. But at least to me, the idea is not quite realized in your final product. To be very honest, I don't see an ivory effect, but a rather muddy image which is neither high nor low key. Maybe not enough exposure? Maybe we have different eyes about liminescence zones? Am not sure, but by putting most area of your image, both background and the face, in a mid gray, helps nothing but to overwhelm Rich's eyes.

The words maybe a bit too harsh, but I hope you will understand. Hursh criticism has been a great tradition for this forum for years and is what makes this place interesting. We are here to criticise the weakness (or at least in the viewers' eyes) of our images, so there is a chance we can learn from mistakes.

You have a great day.
